Several artistes and technicians who have contributed immensely to Tamil cinema were recognized and honoured at the recently-concluded Fourth International Tamil Film Awards function on May 16th organized by Silver Screens and V4. The award function draws its significance from the fact that the winners are chosen by the public and not by any special committee or jury. At the glittering ceremony, Madhavan won the Best Actor Award for his honest portrayal in Evano Oruvan while Nasser won the Best Character Actor Award for Poi Solla Porom. The entire Dasavathaaram team was present that night to witness Asin bag the Best Actress Award. Director K.S. Ravikumar was chosen in the Best Director category; and Kamal Haasan was titled the Best Living Legend! The awards function was an event to remember as it was attended by several of the film industry's magnates and bigwigs. Ravi Varman, who won the award for Best Cinematographer, said he felt honoured and more responsible. The Best Dream Girl honour went to Sneha for her memorable work in Pirivom Sandhippom. Harris Jayaraj was declared the Best Music Director for Vaaranam Aayiram while director Radha Mohan was given the Special Award for Direction. Abhiyum Naanum won the Best Film Award.
